"NanoKids" consist of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen atomsEducation and outreach

TiiMS brings together the academic community to significantly enhance education for the next generation of trained aerospace professionals.

Our educational outreach program supports science and engineering education at the postgraduate, graduate and undergraduate levels through programs that integrate new courses with opportunities for student research, disseminating current research and applications, encouraging students to pursue science and engineering careers, and enhancing the development of young professionals.

The majority of our budget is spent on students, with more than 70 undergraduate, graduate and postdoctoral students supported each year. In the first five years, over 300 students will benefit directly by participation in this program.

To ensure that NASA perspectives are integrated into the institute, as well as to further educate NASA personnel, we will facilitate the pursuit of advanced degrees by NASA civil servants. Our outreach program will complement a strong cadre of existing programs focused on human resource development and initiate innovative new programs consistent with the proposed research.
