What is nanotechnology?

“Nanotechnology is the creation of functional materials, devices and systems through control of matter on the nanometer length scale (1-100 nanometers), and exploitation of novel phenomena and properties (physical, chemical, biological, mechanical, electrical...) at that length scale.” (Dr. M. Meyyappan)

What is biotechnology?

“Biotechnology is the development of functional materials, devices and systems through control of matter on the atomic or molecular levels that mimic micro-macro biological processes or phenomena.”

What is bio-nanotechnology?

“In the Texas Institute for Intelligent Bio-Nano Materials and Structures for Aerospace Vehicles bio-nanotechnology is the merger of biotechnology and nanotechnology to enable the development of intelligent reconfigurable aerospace structures.”
